Automotive Regulatory Guide – 2022

The Automotive Regulatory Guide of the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) is a unique publication that provides a comprehensive overview of the national and international regulations governing the automotive industry.

ACEA’s 2022 Regulatory Guide does not only contain updated information for the countries covered in the first edition, but it was also expanded to include regulations for the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico and Australia.

The sheer amount of regulations defining how motor vehicles should be built and approved, demonstrates the importance of a harmonised regulatory framework that allows for innovation and investment across our industry.

Indeed, the European automotive industry is one of the most heavily regulated sectors in Europe with more than 150 EU Regulations and 30 Directives covering the sector’s activities.

That is why ACEA has long been advocating the need for smarter, rather than simply more, legislation. With the support of national and international regulators, the automotive industry is fully committed to facing the challenges of today for a better tomorrow.
