Motorisation rates in the EU, by country and vehicle type

The European Union counts 569 passenger cars per 1,000 inhabitants on average, and some 70 commercial vehicles and buses. Luxembourg has the highest car density in the EU (694 per 1,000 people) and Latvia the lowest (342). This interactive infographic shows the number motor vehicles in use for each of the 27 EU member states, per vehicle type.
