40% of all new cars registered in the European Union run on petrol, while diesel accounts for 19.6% of registrations. 18% of new passenger cars in the EU are electrically-chargeable vehicles (9.1% battery electric + 8.9% plug-in hybrids), while hybrids account for 19.6% of total car sales.
