Energy consumption during car production in the EU

European car makers have reduced the energy consumption of car production by 23% since 2006, as this interactive infographic shows.

As cars have become equipped with ever more features to make them safer, cleaner and smarter, the complexity of vehicle production has increased. This increase in complexity affects energy demand. Nevertheless, manufacturers have been working continuously to improve the energy efficiency of production.

As a result, the energy consumption per passenger car produced has been decreased by 23% over the last 15 years.
