Energy consumption during car production in the EU
European car makers have reduced the energy consumption of car production by more than 28% since 2005, as this interactive infographic shows.
As cars have become equipped with ever more features to make them safer, cleaner and smarter, the complexity of vehicle production has increased. This increase in complexity affects energy demand. Nevertheless, manufacturers have been working continuously to improve the energy efficiency of production.
As a result, the energy consumption per passenger car produced has been decreased by 28.1% over the last 15 years.
