CO2 emissions from car production in the EU

European car makers have reduced CO2 emissions from production by almost 38% since 2005, as this interactive chart shows.

The CO2 emissions per car produced dropped by 37.7% between 2005 and 2019, while the overall figure went down by 35% over the same period, reflecting the industry’s efforts to reduce CO2 emissions from production.

Even tough car production has increased by 4.3% since 2005, manufacturers have been able to decouple CO2emissions from production growth by increasingly sourcing energy from renewable and/or low-carbon sources.
